Cognition Pharmaceuticals’ lead project is the development of C105 for treatment of cognitive impairment due to Multiple Sclerosis. C105 was developed in 1999 by a team of Brown University scientists that included Mark Bear, Ph.D., (now of MIT), Mel Epstein, MD, and Nobel Laureate Leon Cooper. C105 completed Phase I development and 6 Phase II clinical studies to date under the auspices of Sention, Inc. which had invested $33 million in drug development prior to being acquired by CP. In these studies, C105 was shown to be safe and, in targeted areas, efficacious.
In 2008, Cognition Pharmaceuticals concluded a Phase II trial that demonstrated efficacy in improving memory function in patients with cognitive impairment secondary to MS.
C105 has completed Phase I development and 7 Phase II clinical studies to date. It has been shown to be safe and, in targeted areas, efficacious.
